Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find my VIN?

You can locate the VIN (17 digit identification number) at the bottom corner of the windshield on the drivers side, inside the drivers door, on the title, registration or insurance card of the vehicle.

Locating the service number for a GM vehicle engine/transmission computer (ECM, PCM, ECU, TCM)?

There is an I.D. sticker on the computer that will have the "service number". This may be abbreviated like "serv. no." or "service no." etc. This will be followed by the number that is used for identification. If your computer doesn't have
an ID sticker, your local GM dealership parts department should be able to provide a service number for your vehicle's computer if you provide them with the VIN.

Locating the part number for a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram vehicle engine computer (ECM, PCM, ECU).

There is an ID sticker on the computer that will will have the part number.  There may be multiple labels on the computer.  If there is a sticker the says "authorized software update" that is the number to use, it will supersede any other number.  Please reference the authorized software number, it must match the number in the ad.  The two letters at the end do not matter and do not have to match.  Please look on all sides of the computer for the "authorized software update" label.  If you cannot find the "authorized software update" label then search using the part number on the sticker (usually only older vehicles use only the part number instead of the "authorized software update" number).  When searching use only the seven or eight digit number, do not put a "P" or "R" at the beginning of the number.  Also do not include the two letters at the end of the number.  If you are unable to locate the part number or "authorized software update" part number your local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership parts department may be able to provide the number if you provide them with the VIN.

How does shipping work?

If the computer is ordered before 2:00 P.M. EST (Mon. - Fri.) it will be shipped the same day. After 2:00 P.M. EST the computer will be shipped the next day (the computer will be shipped Monday if the order is after 2:00 P.M. EST on Friday). We use USPS Priority shipping. This usually takes 2-3 business days on average.  If expedited shipping is needed please call us for a price quote for that service.

How can I get my VIN to you?

When you purchase a new car computer, you will be prompted to type in the VIN when adding to cart.  The VIN must always be 17 digits and the last six digits will always be numbers (not letters).  You can also email Flashmastersecm@gmail.com

What is the guarantee?

Most computers have a one year exchange guarantee (This applies to all Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram vehicles and most GM vehicles).  Some GM vehicles may have a 90 day or six month warranty. If you look at the ad you will find the warranty for any specific computer.

What will I have to do once I install the computer?

All Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram vehicles will be "plug & play" which means after the computer is installed you will start the vehicle and go, nothing more will need to be done.  Some GM vehicles will require a relearn for the antitheft system and the crankshaft variation. There will be instructions in the box for any relearn procedure that applies to your vehicle. You can contact us if you need more specific information about this as it relates to your vehicle.

Can I return the computer?

The computer can be returned for any reason within 30 days of the sale (a 20% restocking fee will apply).
